V Ä L V Ē and Persona

V Ä L V Ē

Coming to a screen near you on Thursday 22nd October at 7:30pm! We’re ditching the uncertainty and embracing the technology to bring you an evening of the atmospheric and avant garde in our first ever online show.

Featuring the intricate and absorbing soundscapes of V Ä L V Ē, (led by composer and bassoonist Chlöe Herington, also of Knifeworld and Chrome Hoof) and the stripped back loops of Sheffield duo Persona, the show will be a packed hour and a half of great music, live chat and the opportunity to ask your burning questions.

You’ll need to register for a ticket in order to get the link for the private YouTube Live stream. There are free tickets available for the low / no-waged, but we know that those who can will want to continue to support our artists and technical team. You can be a Scene Supporter and get a standard ticket for £5 or you can be a total Scene Champion and get a £10 ticket – we will donate half of each Scene Champion ticket to the Music Venue Trust’s #saveourvenues campaign.

// V Ä L V Ē //

Chloe Herington - VälveV Ä L V Ē originally started out as the outlet for composer/performer Chlöe Herington’s (Chrome Hoof, Knifeworld) compositional work using text and image as the starting point for scores. She collects sounds and diagrams, composing predominantly for bassoon, saxes, electronics and found sounds to explore synaesthetic memory and collective experience.

The band has morphed – from what originated as a solo project, performing mainly in art galleries, it grew to include Elen Evans on harp. After moving from galleries back into music venues, they were recently joined by Chlöe’s Chrome Hoof comrade, Emma Sullivan on bass, microkorg and vocals. Live, the music traverses the realms of noise and improv into songs, punctuated with found sounds and eases into spacey soundscapes. Highlights to date include having the honour of closing the Barn stage at Supernormal (2017) and, equally, being played by John Doran on BBC R3’s Late Junction.
